SUPPORT & FAQ

Technical details regarding shipping, warranty, and hardware support.

Does this work with multiple monitors?

Yes. By default, BoardHand uses absolute positioning. The tracking volume above the keyboard maps directly to your total screen real estate. Moving your hand to the far left of the board places the cursor on the far left monitor. You can adjust this behavior to standard relative tracking (like a standard mouse) via the web configuration tool.

Can I rest my hands on the keys without moving the cursor?

Yes. The IR sensors are calibrated with a physical deadzone (the "Lift-Off Distance"). Your fingers must rise approximately 10mm above the resting position on the keycaps to engage the optical tracking. This ensures you can type normally without accidental cursor movement.

How does it handle different lighting conditions?

BoardHand uses 850nm near-infrared sensors equipped with narrow-bandpass physical filters. This means the cameras only "see" the specific wavelength of light emitted by the onboard IR LEDs. It works perfectly in total darkness or in standard office lighting. Direct, intense sunlight striking the sensors can cause interference, but the recessed sensor bay mitigates this in most environments.

What is the warranty policy?

We provide a 2-year limited warranty covering manufacturing defects. Since the switches are hot-swappable, standard wear and tear on the key switches is not covered, but they are easily user-replaceable. If the internal DSP or sensor array fails, we will replace the unit.

Is the firmware open source?

The keyboard matrix and USB HID stack are built on an open-source QMK foundation. The specific DSP logic for the optical triangulation and predictive kinematics is proprietary closed-source firmware, but it exposes a documented API for users wanting to build custom tools.
